Project 333

Have you heard of Project 333? The Minimalist Fashion Challenge

by bemorewithless.com

They say women only wear 20% of their wardrobe 80% of the time, and I feel like that is true of my closet. A lot of wasted money on clothes. What could you do with that extra money?

The goal of Project 333 is to create a capsule wardrobe by dressing with 33 items or less for 3 months.

This challenge can help you know what you really want and need in your closet. Some may learn they need a little more, and others may learn they can live with less, but this project states that 33 is a good starting point. Then you can change or update as you go. This should help save you time and stress each morning, and potentially even save you money once you have created your capsule wardrobe as you will learn to be more specific when shopping for clothes and accessories.

For this challenge, choose your 33 items. Then box up your remaining wardrobe and put it out of sight for 3 months. When the 3 months are up, re-evaluate your closet and box. Was there anything you missed? Was there anything you had but didn’t like or need? Then update your wardrobe with the 33 or so items you feel will get you through the next 3 months, donate anything you feel you can live without at this time, and repeat the challenge. This should soon get you to your more perfect capsule wardrobe.

Be sure to consider clothes that you can live, work, and play in for the three months. This includes clothes, accessories, jewelry, outerwear and shoes. It’s suggested not to include things such as sentimental pieces of jewelry that you never take off, underwear, sleepwear, in-home loungewear, and maybe workout clothing.

What are your thoughts? Could you dress with 33 items or less for 3 months?

Will this save you time and stress?

Do you think this could save you money, or would it potentially cost you more?

I am super intrigued by this challenge, and I tried to attempt it before. I pulled everything out of my closet, found a few things to get rid of, but I chickened out and put it all back (except the few things I did decide to get rid of). I made some progress, right? I am still interested in this challenge and seeing what it could do for me.

Let me know your thoughts. Have you tried a capsule wardrobe or Project 333 Challenge? Do you think this could help redefine your shopping and the way you look at stuff and spending?

This challenge could be a great time to pair with a No-Spend Challenge to put a jump on your savings.
