Annual Financial Checkup Workbook

Here is my latest resource! This was inspired while trying to get my busy young adult son to find time to sit with me and review some financial steps that might be beneficial for him. This was difficult during a time when he was going to school, working, and interning, so he did not have a lot of downtime. I decided to create a list that would give the information I wanted him to know and help guide him in his financial decisions when he was ready. This list quickly turned into a workbook. I hope this will be a resource my children can easily review each year, guide them in their choices to help make a plan that best fits their circumstances and goals, and help them track their progress toward financial independence.

While I created it with my children in mind, I wanted to share it with anyone else who may find value in this as well.

This workbook may seem overwhelming at first, especially if you’re new to any financial steps, but remember that this resource is designed to be taken one step at a time. Focus on the smaller, manageable steps rather than the big picture. Keep in mind that not every step may apply to you, or they may not apply to you at every stage in life. This workbook should get easier to go through each year as you start making financial decisions based on your unique goals.

Personal Finances are Personal.

This workbook combines insights from various sources and is intended to be used as a guide letting you choose the best path for your circumstances and goals. I suggest reviewing it annually to ensure you’re on the right track but make this workbook fit you and your lifestyle. Reviewing this workbook occasionally will enable you to make adjustments to your financial plan if needed and may help keep you motivated throughout your journey. An overview on the front page will let you track your progress over time. You will easily be able to look back on older workbooks to see all you have accomplished and just how far you’ve come.

Most of the information used to create this workbook is found on the Make A Plan page of this site. Check out that page for more details about the financial steps listed in this workbook.

Please note that I am not a financial advisor, and this Annual Financial Checkup workbook should not replace professional advice. I created this based on information I’ve gathered to share with my children.

I appreciate any feedback to help me make this workbook better. If you have any questions, comments, or recommendations, please feel free to comment below or contact me.

We are all learning together!

I feel we are all students of one another, learning from each other’s strengths and weaknesses. I am not a financial advisor, but I am continuously learning on my journey to become financially independent, and I’m passionate about teaching others how to do the same. Come learn with me so we can live our best lives and then spread our wings to help others do the same
